"Au Petit Port de l’Houmeau", a cute little "family run" 3-stars campsite of 132 pitches (2,50 ha) is located in the Charente Maritime, south from the Vendée.

3 miles away from La Rochelle downtown, half a mile from the local tiny still cuty harbour "Port du Plomb", you will find nearby the pebble beach "Plage du Plomb", 2 miles distant from the bridge to "Ile de Ré".
If you fancy riding a bike or hiking, your expectations shall be fullfilled :
- a 7 miles long path alongside the coast and the clives, leading you from Esnandes to the bridge "Pont de Ré".
- the same path, also allowed for cycling, will connect you will the 50 miles cycle paths" net of Ile de Ré...
You like the charm of "traditionnal camping", putting up your tent ? You'd rather stay in a caravan or a camper-van ? You prefer going for a static for more comfort ?

For the fun of your children, you will find on site a playground with various games and 2 tennis tables.
How can you imagine holidays in a camp-site without a barbecue ? No way !!
For your safety, and also because grill (with charcoal and/or gas) is strictly forbidden on any pitch all over the camp-site, a common barbecue area has been created for all holidaymakers just beyond the "I" alley.
What about having a refreshing drink ? having an ice-cream ? a snack on the go ? All this and many other things, you will find them at the snack-bar, close to main reception from March, 25th to October, 2nd 2016. If you are a football fan, please don't panic, all the matches of Euro 2016 will be broadcasted there in June !!!
What else ?
You can hire bikes with us from April to September, baby-beds, baby high-chair, table-top fridge (daily or weekly)... Close to main reception, you will find a laundry with 2 washing mashines and 2 tumble-dryers (tokens from reception).
For internet addicts ?
Dear fathers and mothers, you can breath deeply now, wifi is connected all over the camp-site from any pitch, from any static, and this is freeeeeeeeeeeeeee of charge !!! Now you know this, you can peacefully go ahead with a firm booking...

The influence of the Ocean on L'Houmeau's history has always been very important. Nevertheless, the cultural legacy built up since middle age on the mainland is worthseeing also. If you walk up the so called "Sentier Découverte" - path.
5 miles long, this path will let you discover the natural, cultural and historical heritage of our Territory. Alongside this path, you will go past 13 bounds ; if you take your time, you can read accurate explanations on each spot you stop at.
At the day of today, there are exactly 13 "discovery paths" in L'Houmeau, Nieu-sur-Mer, Esnandes, Angoulins-sur-Mer, Salles-sur-Mer, Dompierre-sur-Mer, Châtelaillon-Plage, Lagord, Périgny, Tasdon-La Moulinette, Marsilly, La Jarne et Puilboreau.
You can explore in the near surroundings "Marais de Pampin" (a very protected natural moore), la "Fontaine de Grimeau" et and the famous harbour "Le Port du Plomb", which is now more orientated to yachting, rather than fishing industry.
Visit the famous old harbour's towers "Tours de La Rochelle", the "Aquarium", various museums such as "Art & d’Histoire", "Musée des Beaux-Arts", "Musée du Nouveau-Monde", "Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle". And if you wish to know more about moore, have a go to the "Maison de la Baie du Marais Poitevin" à Esnandes (only 4 miles away)…

Don't forget to visit "l'Hermione" and the "Corderie Royale" in Rochefort, the island "Île d'Aix" and approach "Fort Boyard" (famous prison in the Ocean) , the fortress village "Brouage", "Saintes", "Cognac" and its distilleries, the famous "Zoo" in "La Palmyre", the "Marais Poitevin", the beautiful "Puy du Fou", Vauban's fortifications !
